First time for EVERYTHING!!!

Feeling the need to pour my heart out! We have had a busy summer here in the Metz house! Vacation, trip to Georgia, Bible school, pool, beach, playdates, and visits from family!
Ice-cream, watermelon, mato pie, and cookies! It has been a great summer, but we are ready to slow down a bit.
Tomorrow, my babies begin Kindergarten. Did I blink? How did they get SO BIG, SO FAST! It is all happening so quickly, my head is really spinning. There is no telling how many times I have teared up just this weekend. Let me give you the list of things that have happened since Friday (it is Sunday night). My son has two loose teeth on the bottom. He also decided to only check out one dinosaur book vs. all dinosaur books at the library. The end of an era, we are now onto nature and weather. Well, I guess it is time....three years is long enough to check out ONLY dino books. "Mommy, I just can't think of anything else." ( Big Sigh) My little man is growing and changing in so many ways. Lilly Grace asked for her own hairbrush so that she can do her own hair.
She picked out a purple brush with a matching comb. Guess what, she can brush her hair and the other two girls! Bonus for mommy, but still sad. Both Lilly and Caroline begin ballet at the Hilton Head Dance Academy on Wednesday. We went Saturday afternoon to sign up and purchase their shoes, tights, and leotards. LG is dark blue and Caroline is light blue. Ah, such a sweet afternoon. When we got in the car Caroline was smiling ear to ear. " Thank you mommy". Lilly is so excited and is counting down the days. Click, added to the memory forever. Caroline also decided to swim tonight. She has been getting really brave in the pool lately. Just out of the blue she said she would swim to me and dog gone it, she did!

Doodle, Say, Say-Say, Saylor Anne.....where to begin.....
Well, she is the only one of the kiddos to LOVE Elmo. She has no fear of the water and jumps right to ya! She has started putting two and three words together. Tonight she got her diaper, brought it to me and said... I GOT IT! What????? Please slow down Saylor, mommy is not ready for you to grow up so fast. Love my baby girl and she loves me right back! Frogs are not her favorite thing right now. If you say the word, she freaks. Funny story actually, but I will save that one for later.

Praying for a great first day of Kindergarten/Preschool/Toddler time!

Ice-Cream and River Fun!

August 1,2010 was a big day for three of the Metz kids! Little do they know, but they are officially lowcountry babies!!! We attended our annual church ice-cream social on Myrtle Island (the Cubbage Patch). After enjoying yummy homemade ice-cream we took the kids down to the rivah. The May Rivah. As we were admiring the beautiful scenery, you could see the child dancing in my husband's eyes. He just COUlD NOT STAND IT!!! Others were jumping off the dock and having a grand time,so Eric joined them. The kiddos were watching their daddy and soon wanted to join him. So.....one by one they each had a turn to wear a life jacket and jump off the low dock (not the high dock that daddy jumped off of) into the water. First Lance, then,LG,and EVEN Caroline. Had to tear up!!! Do I really have children old enough to do this????? And,I did not have my camera-boo! I must add, precios baby Saylor was watching from the Cubbage Patch in the arms of our dear friend Tamara Davis. Next time I will have my camera.

Dolphin Head

June/July Fun!

Dolphin Head is one of our favorite places to play! A playground with an ocean view!!!! Now,that's what I'm talkin about! The kids absolutely love the bigs swings, monkeybars, and all the little things you can bounce/rock on. Love, love, love to watch the kiddos play at sunset on Pine Island. Always fun to watch the dolphins, crabs, and boats. Can't you just hear the kids squealing at every dolphin sighting???? Eric has taken the three older ones out on the kayaks in Skull Creek. On the 4th we watched fireworks from Pine Island. LG still not a fan. She had her hands over her ears the whole evening. FYI-Lilly becomes quite a chatter box when she is nervous (like her mommy). Saylor Anne dozed off and on during her first firework show! Caroline, well, nothing phases that girl. Lance was a sport until the bugs came out and the coach turned back unto a pumpkin. When Lance is tired you basically need a bed right then and there. All in all,GREAT WEEKEND! Mommy got two long naps!

Of course the kids love the pool! We have spent many evenings at the pool (everyone is feed,no sunscreen, and a great plan for an earlier bedtime). The twins are becoming quite the little swimmers! Caroline floats right along next to them (I predict she will be swimming next summer). Saylor Anne enjoys sitting in her stroller and watching all the family fun.

Beach Babies!
No orkas in the water this year! LLC loves playing in the surf, jumping waves, and playing in the sand! Saylor continues to enjoy singing and competing with the sounds of the ocean!

Percy Lulu

Caroline Elisabeth Metz also goes by the name Percy,Percy LuLu,Crazy Caroline, and Doodle Bug. She really keeps this family on our toes!!!! For example, this week she has clogged the toilet by filling it with tp,put mommy's moisturizer all over her face, played catch me if you can in the backyard, brought the milk from the fridge to mommy/daddy to demand a drink, painted her legs and toenails with a marker whenever we are having art time (she's fast),makes up songs and dances (makes the whole family giggle). Her favorite song goes a little something like this-ah- no-ah,ah-no-ah,ah-no-ah....... She also likes the alligator song (can't catch me) Hmmmm....she will also grab my purse if I sit it down for a split second, rumage through, and find...... you guessed it,the lipgloss. She picked Eric's first tomato before it was ready to be picked along with a few of mommy's flowers ( a tute mato,a tute frower). She also cornered Lance,Lilly, and myself with the waterhose. I managed to escape DRY!!! The girl LOVES shoes and her pocket (pocketbook). She often has on a cowboy boot and a pink glitter shoe on the wrong feet. Her lastest phrases- Mommy/Daddy I talkin you or I help you mommy/daddy? Oh,how can I forget how GENTLE she is with Saylor-NOT!!!! Poor Saylor Anne had stickers DORA stickers on her head yesterday. We LOVE our Percy. The Two's Rock!

Saylor at four months

I really can not believe that Saylor is already turning over and attempting baby crunches!!!! She loves to be right in the middle of the caos too! Mommy and Saylor had a precious moment on the beach on Saturday evening. The others were playing in the water while mom and Saylor watched. Sweet baby songs filled the air!!! Such precious ooohs and ahhhhs filled my love cup. She loved the sea breeze and the sounds of the low country.

Today I vowed to take photographs and video our little sprout (if it is on my list it usuallygets done! Enjoy!

Saylor's arrival

Oh my goodnes! It has be coldy ( Lance and Lil language) in Bluffton,SC. Saylor arrived on January 8th at 8:30 am. and baby, it was cold outside!!!! We arrived at the hospital around 6:00 am. It was misting and I actually thought there was sleet on the ground. Eric soon pointed out that it was just salt. Helllllooooo, could barely see my feet! Went through the emergency room to check in and then up to labor and delivery. Went through all the necessaries to get ready for the s-section. They have added some crazy questions to the list. Ex: Would you like to save the cord for a religous ritual. Ummmmm, let me check-NOPE!

Whew! A lot has happened!

I have not blogged in FOREVER! Let's see..... we have packed up a rental, moved to a new rental, and now we are getting ready for baby number 4!!!! I write blogs in my head all of the time, but honestly, I have not had the time nor the energy to type. Now that I am around 13 weeks, my energy level is back and I am not so GREEN!!!!

Let's back up to the last day of Ferbruary and the first day of March. My sister and three of my aunts came for a visit ( DAE, GLO BUG,and Aunt PAAAAAT). On Saturday of their visit, we visited the Daffodil fields for a photo shoot. The kids enjoyed picking flowers and I got some cute pics!!!! The girls had on sundresses and Lance had on shorts. That night we went to bed laughing at a weather report that was predicting snow for North Georgia. No way! It never happens...... The plan was for everyone to go home on Monday. The kids and I were going to follow everyone back, surprise the grandparents, and allow Eric some much needed time to start working on cleaning up the rental, packing,etc... Well, that night (actually early the next morning..... somewhere between 2 and 4 am) I woke up to a tornado warning for our area. I think we must have fallen asleep with the Weather Channel on. So, with Eric rolling his eyes at me, I woke everyone up. Better safe than sorry! I think everyone got back to sleep alright. False alarm. Anyhoo... the next morning there was more weather news! Snow was falling in North Georgia and falling fast!!! All of the aunts and sis thought that we should try to get home before the roads got too bad! Hee,Hee, Hee!!!! After a rush packing job we head to Georgia. Well, my sister was checking the weather and Facebook on the way home, and things were not looking good. In Washington, Georgia, an hour and a half from my parents, we had to stop. STRANDED!!!! The State Patrol were turning cars around. So....... I pulled into CVS. My aunt got their phonebook and booked our rooms while I went down the isles getting snacks and things to entertain the children. Our ADVENTURE was getting better by the minute. We stayed at the Jameson Inn which is right across from a grocery store and a yummy little Mexican restaurant. Guess what we had for dinner???? Did I mention that it was Aunt Pat's birthday. The aunts stayed in one room and Ashely and I controlled the circus. The children had a blast! I was so excited for them to see snow for the first time. I must say, we saw some of the biggest snowflakes I have ever seen at dinner that night! There was only one other couple in the place. Good thing because we were loud. It's crazy that we were in Spring attire the day before!?!? It was actually a fun little trip! Once we got to my parent's house we enjoyed a little fun in the snow!

Indpendent Babies

Today I deciced to watch the circus. I am not talking about supervising, I mean to observe and record in my mind and heart. Not everthing needs to be captured on the camcorder/camera. Some moments are so precious, recording and pictures would not do them justice anyway.

Caroline-How precious it is to watch this little bebop! She just really cracks me up. I can not believe how brave she is. Today she was going up the ladder and down the slide all by herself. She even went down on her tummy headfirst! It is adorable watching her walk all over the playground trying so hard to keep up with the twins. She really loves them, but she also has fun just being all by herself. She spent a few minutes just hanging out at the bottom of the big slide. Caroline is "sooooo big!"

Lance- My little man shared his toys on the playground today. This has been really hard for him lately. I was so proud that he did this on his own. It was tough, but I decided to just watch to see how things played out in the sandbox ( My first instinct was to go over and remind him that he needed to share). I am sure there will be other moments when he doesn't feel like being so friendly, but today was a step in the right direction! Good job Lance! When it was time to go he even loaded all of his toys into the car ( sandbuckets, dumptruck, Diego). I helped him get into his carseat and gave him a smooch. Of course, he wiped it off. Growing up way to fast.

Lilly Grace- LG= the work of three kids! I love my little busy body!!!! She is so curious about everything. Mama ( a switch from mommy-copying Caroline) where are we going, what is that, what do you have in your mouth (hee-hee a cookie no doubt)???? She watches everything and doesn't forget a thing ( sounds a bit like her Mama)! I got the biggest kick out of listening to her today. She was telling her daddy all about the books that we got at the library. LG makes sure to get everyone a book that they will like. " I got this one for my daddy." Lil is also really good at exercising. I caught her doing crunches on her kickball yesterday! She could teach Stroller Fit!

They are all napping right now and the house is quiet. I enjoy this rare, peaceful, downtime. As nice as it is, I am looking forward to seeing their precious faces as they wake up. Gotta love those nap hugs!

Busy hands, busy legs, sassy mouths!!!

Oh my, the 3's are interesting! I am going to stick with my brother-in-laws
motto,"If you can't beat them, confuse them!" Sometimes that doesn't work either! Seriously, the twins are great! They continue to crack us up on a daily basis. Lance is getting a little bit of a "tude". Lilly continues to be our busy little LG. Caroline is walking, climbing.....ON THE GO!!!! She wants whatever the twins have!!! If they have a juicebox, do not give her a sippy cup kind of thing.

Lance loves television. The other day I found him in our bedroom watching the president on PBS. I think he would watch anything, but his favorite is the Noggin channel. The kids have certain times of day in which they can watch certain shows. He sometimes sneaks into our room and turns on the tube. Lance loves to play in his office (a sofa with the cusions removed). This is where his workjob is. He plays with his shrimp(orange yarn) and oysters (oysers). He does not like for us to clean up his office!!!

Lilly Grace-Lilly is really into being a little mommy. She thinks Caroline(carawhine) is her baby. She likes to teach her new words and show her books. She is also getting a little prissy. She loves to pose for pictures, wear ponytails, sing, and put on my lipstick! Lilly enjoys playing in "the office" with her brother and Caroline. She brings all her babies and her stroller.

Caroline- C-kline took a little while to start walking, but she is on the go now. She has no trouble climbing up in chairs, on sofas, and toy buckets. She loves books and baby dolls. She can say MINE very well! Today she added tiger to her vocabulary.

Almost February!

Goodness, it has been a while since I have sat down to blog. The Christmas season was full of many fun activities. About half way through the season, we decided less is more. Instead of trying to make it to every event, we decided to just cherish the family time. We had many great evenings driving around the neighborhood looking at lights and decorations. I also started an online class around December 9th, perfect timing..... It is over now and I am so glad to just be playing the role of honey and mommy! Back to Christmas...does a small u-haul trailer sound a little much! We spent around 11 days in Georgia and five celebrations later we have TONS of presents. It was a great time with family and friends! The twins had a wonderful third birthday! We had Pirates and Mermaids in the park! Can't believe they are already three! My baby is one!!!

Memories

Way,way behind on posting. We have had such a busy couple of months! Anyway,Caroline just celebrated the big first birthday. She is such an angel! It is like the minute they are one all kinds of things begin happening. She can take things in and out of a box/bag when you ask. She blows kisses on command. She has so much fun finding all of our noses. The most precious thing is watching her fold her hands when we are saying the blessing before meals. We haven't taught her to do that, she has taught her self! I had to tear up a bit at that! Words include dog, mama, dah (daddy), wha tat (what's that),up, uh-oh, na, na, na (no),and more. Walking is not a priority it seems. She is starting to get a little brave, hanging on with one hand. She moves around like a monkey swings from tree to tree-too cute! Climbing is also a favorite. She thinks she had done something big when she climbs into the rocking chair (and she has). Gosh, I can not believe she is one! I have almost stopped nursing completely-bitter sweet! It is harder to stop than I ever imagined!

Lance and Lilly Grace have been cracking me up this week! Lilly Grace is a regular old bag lady. That little girl collects bags of all kinds and finds anything and everything to put inside. She had three bags packed full of this and that today. I found kitchen stuff, tree ornaments, stuffed animals, blocks, lincoln logs, etc...
Lance had a crayon in the living room today. When I asked him to bring it back to the table he said, " I'm going to do this like daddy" and with that he put the pencil behind his ear. Little things that make them who they are, so precious!
Thank you Jesus for blessing us with these children!
